NUL Graduation Ceremony Postponed to October: Details and New Schedule

The National University of Lesotho (NUL) has officially announced the postponement of its graduation ceremony, originally set for September, to October 2024. The decision, communicated by the NUL Registrar, Ms. Liteboho Maqalika-Lerotholi, follows a special meeting of the Senate Executive Committee held on Monday, where the proposal for the new dates was reviewed and approved.

New Graduation Schedule

The graduation ceremonies for the university’s 49th Convocation will now take place from October 8 to October 12, 2024. This marks a significant shift from the previously scheduled dates of September 23 to September 27. The revised schedule outlines a week-long celebration, with specific faculties set to graduate on designated days:

  • October 8: Faculties of Law and Education
  • October 9: Faculties of Health Sciences and Humanities
  • October 10: Faculties of Science and Technology and Agriculture
  • October 11: Faculty of Social Sciences
  • October 12: Institute of Extra Mural Studies (IEMS)

This rearrangement allows for a more organized and streamlined ceremony, providing ample time for students, faculty, and guests to prepare for the celebrations.

Importance of the Ceremony

Graduation ceremonies are significant milestones in the academic journey of students, representing years of hard work and dedication. The NUL graduation is particularly important as it celebrates the achievements of graduates across various disciplines, highlighting their contributions to society and their readiness to enter the workforce or further their studies.

The decision to postpone was made with the intention of ensuring that all logistical arrangements could be appropriately managed, allowing the university to provide a memorable and dignified event for graduates and their families.

As students and staff adjust to the new timeline, the NUL community is encouraged to remain engaged and supportive of one another as the date approaches. The upcoming graduation week promises to be a momentous occasion, honoring the achievements of the graduating class and reinforcing the university’s commitment to academic excellence. Further updates and information regarding the ceremonies will be communicated to all stakeholders as the new dates draw nearer.
